Merry Christmas from the Rudland family

Culzean September 2010

Saturday. 4th September Mum and I decided that we would have a day out. Culzean was chosen as the venue - the weather was great and we packed coffee and a biscuit for the journey and set off up the Glenkens. Soon we were at Carsphairn for our bite and then on to Dalmellington for the turn-off towards Maybole. Narrow country road but not busy despite being Saturday and in no time we were turning in to Culzean Country Park. Found a place for the car, had a wee walkabout and then to the restaurant for soup and a baguette.

That past, on to the path for the Swan Pond. Although there were a lot of cars, the area is so vast that it never seemed crowded.

We found that there was an archery meeting going on with members of the ‘longbow association’ doing their stuff on the fountain court. This was overlooked by the path in front of the castle so we had a good view.

The weather was kind to us and there were blinks of sun, though never too warm. Ice-cream at the little kiosk and back by the cliff path.

Gentle return journey and so ended a great day out.
